The case for moving to greener energy is clear. Renewables, including solar energy, wind, hydropower, biofuels and others are at the centre of the transition to less carbon-intensive and more sustainable future. Designers play a pivotal role in this transition, both in terms of designing products that are powered by renewables, as well as in bringing about the necessary cultural shifts.
Hosting the COP26 shows Scotland’s commitment in being a sustainable and future thinking country. The Scottish government has viewed the development of renewables not only as an economic opportunity. This has inspired, and partially funded, many Scottish-based companies to develop novel renewable technologies.. Several of which Filament have had the pleasure of working alongside.
Why is Vehicle Decarbonisation a high priority for a more sustainable future?
According the to the WHO, one of the largest source of CO2 emissions comes from the the transportation industry. More specifically cars & vans accounted for the 48% of the global CO2 emissions in 2022.
While working with SolarisKit we’ve discovered that a typical household will consume 2,200 KWH of energy, producing up to 1,000 Kilograms of carbon heat water every year.
For the last 10 years we have applied strategic & human centred design thinking to worldwide challenges to enable progress along markets and industries. We all know that design has the power to change lives, and is a key driver towards a more positive future. That’s why we stand by it.We stay connected to people that share our passion for innovative products that generate value and impact, and working together to bring a meaningful change to the most serious problems facing the world today.
